Born From a Heavy Pack and a Long Hill.
The idea for this kit wasn't born from my own suffering, but from watching a good mate struggle his way up Mt Taranaki.
I had packed light for that trip, but it meant I had to sacrifice a hot coffee at camp. My friend, on the other hand, had hauled his overladen pack up the mountain and was paying for it with every painful step. He was tired, frustrated, and not enjoying the journey.
Watching him, I realised every hiker is forced to make that same impossible choice: either be weighed down by gear, or go without simple comforts. I thought back to family tramping trips where my siblings' heavy packs burdened everyone. It seemed crazy that we had to choose between struggle and sacrifice.
That’s when I became obsessed with finding a third option. I spent hours researching and testing to create a system that was both incredibly lightweight and fully capable—a complete trail kitchen that eliminates that impossible choice.
